I've done my linen cupboard and started the office. I did a revamp of the kitchen and have gained more bench space. Our 19 yo twins came back from holiday and walked into the kitchen and wondered if we had been robbed LOL.

Ah, Patty... but doesn't it feel good to get rid of those two bags!! Don't worry about being behind, just think of how you feel about those two bags going out...phew! Now the next step...one at a time gets you there, and celebrate those accomplishments.

I just finally got rid of two garbage bags of clothes today. They have been sitting in the back of my van for at least a week. I had filled them about two weeks ago just going through mine and my husbands dresser drawers. I am so behind right now on decluttering my home. Ugh! There has been other things I have been spending my time on. I really need to get back to it. I think I totally missed last weeks postings. I hope I can get my momentum back.

Great Job Patty....It just takes those first few steps to get you going! Always work at your own pace so that the changes don't hit you too hard, but enough that you see some accomplishments. Having a weekly goal is a great thing. Keep my up to date on how you are doing....Have a great 2012!

Hi, Karen. I live in a small trailer with only one bedroom. It was originally a two bedroom but the wall to the small bedroom was taken out to enlarge the living room. This was my parents home and I have inherited it after they passed away. I have started in the bedroom, which is the room on one end. I have cleared away all the clothing that was not in drawers. (my bad) I followed your advice and put those pieces that I haven't worn or looked at for a year into a bag to give away. I cleaned out a drawer that had my parents things in there (mostly pictures) and put them on top of the dresser for later sorting. That's as far as I have gotten. Can't do too much Arthritis and Fibromyalgia limit my physical activities. But, I do feel I have accomplished a lot! I still have another drawer, a cabinet and the closet to clean out. That is what I will be working on this week. Thanks for all your advice.

Sometimes it's difficult to teach children to be more organized. I think giving the child the tools to have a more organized space and letting them take the credit for it is very important. Sometimes it takes a bit of work, but a child who has created their own 'organization' from their own ideas (perhaps some subtle hints from you) are more likely to succeed.

Showing them some ideas on how to get organized will be helpful, (magazine pictures, or storage solution pictures could help) and they won't have to invent it or try to figure it out on their own. If they experience how easy being organized can make their life, it might encourage them some more. Please let me know how you do with these suggestions.

Thank you for your comment. Many people have to deal with things left behind by family...I'm struggling with it myself. It's a huge undertaking sometimes, and guilt can play a big part of it.
